Description
Marni s’ouvre sur de la bergamote et se marie à des épices : poivre, gingembre, poivre rose. Le cœur se fait floral grâce à la rose mais reste épicé par ses notes de cannelle et cardamome. En fond, la fragrance évolue vers des éléments boisés : patchouli, vétiver et cèdre. Elle s’achève sur une tonalité ambrée dominée par l’encens. Parfumeuse : Daniela Andrier, Givaudan.

Histoire
Marni est une maison de couture ‘made in Italy’ qui propose une vision du luxe moderne et singulière. La designer suisse italienne Consuelo Castiglioni avoue en effet apprécier les associations inattendues et originales. Marni est le premier parfum de la marque qui a souhaité ici ‘être aux antipodes des descriptions standardisées de la féminité’ avec un parfum qui suit la même philosophie.

Eau de Parfum 30 ml, 65 ml et 120 ml.
Flacon
Le flacon est de forme arrondie et des petits pois sont peints sur celui-ci. Le cabochon est rouge et cerclé d’une bague noire et doré. Les couleurs : rouge, noir, doré font références à la mode Marni.

A bold move from Marni to opt for a woody and incense blend for their first foray into fragrance, but like with Bottega Venetta, who also eschewed the “easy” fruity floral, it somehow -though less impressively- works. Pleasant, contemporary and with no frills, Marni by Marni appeals to the hip consumer thanks to the Olive Oyl design and the cachet of the brand but also to the woman who is tired of syrupy sweet, teeny-bopper fragrances and longs for something a bit more individual, a bit more serious. The dusty rose at the core might seem a bit old-fashioned to those sensitive to those vibes and the simple musk-woods harmony a bit pedestrian.

Maybe I don't wear too many orientals or I've strayed from orientals. To me, this is not an ordinary oriental. It opens with strong spices and pepper. After that opening act, the middle just hums along in the middle of the street. I am somewhat inspired by it.
